Thigh lift / tightening of the thighs

Do you want beautiful, firmer and slimmer legs? Then we recommend a thigh lift

The thighs are one of the "typically female" problem areas where fat deposits easily accumulate. Particularly after pregnancy and major weight fluctuations, the skin on the thighs is often so loose that liposuction alone is not enough to correct the contours of the thighs sufficiently. Similarly, sagging skin on the thighs also develops as we age. The excess skin becomes visible on the inner and outer sides of the thighs.Affected women often try to hide their thighs and are reluctant to show them off in underwear or a swimming costume.

If exercise or diet cannot remedy the situation, a surgical thigh lift is necessary. This can also be combined with liposuction. Excess skin and fatty tissue are surgically removed, making the thighs look visibly and noticeably more athletic and younger. What happens during the operation?

What happens during the operation?

We differentiate between the "small", horizontal lift with a suture between the groin and buttock crease and the "large", vertical lift, in which an additional suture runs along the inside of the thigh towards the knee. The first step is to mark out the planned incision while standing.

Once the anaesthetic has been induced, a local anaesthetic is also injected. The anaesthetic is mixed with a drug that causes the small blood vessels to contract locally. This minimises bleeding during the operation.

The excess skin and fat are now removed with a scalpel. In order to achieve a long-lasting result and tension-free skin sutures, deeper structures (the so-called fat fascia) are now anchored to the pelvis with deep sutures. This allows the thighs to be permanently reshaped. The resulting wounds are closed tension-free with fine absorbable sutures.

Drains ensure that the wound secretions can drain away in the first one to two days after the operation.

The operation takes two to three hours, depending on the extent.

When am I suitable for thigh lift surgery?

Thigh lift surgery is suitable if patients feel that their well-being is impaired by sagging skin on their thighs. In this case, a thigh lift can quickly remedy the situation and help affected patients to enjoy life again and feel good about their bodies.

In cases where there is no excess skin, the circumference or mass of the thighs can often be reduced with the help of liposuction. However, if there is excess skin, liposuction is combined with a subsequent thigh lift. The aim is to achieve the best possible result and a harmonious silhouette for the patient. The patient's skin condition is also a criterion for a successful operation.

It goes without saying that you should be physically healthy. We will therefore determine during your consultation and preliminary examination whether there are any factors that could influence the operation.

What target result is possible? Are there any before and after pictures?

The aim of the operation is to achieve the best possible result and a harmonious silhouette. The basis for a successful operation is your individual skin condition - therefore we can only make individual statements after an examination.

The publication of before and after pictures is prohibited under the German Therapeutic Products Advertising Act. Furthermore, they cannot replace a personal consultation, as individual factors influence the possible outcome of the operation and the scope of treatment.

Questions & answers about thigh lift in Frankfurt

What needs to be considered before the operation?

You should lose as much weight as you can before the operation. The closer you are to your realistic normal weight before the operation, the more satisfied you will be with the result.

What are the most common risks?

In the case of a thigh lift, reference should be made to the general surgical risks - particularly the Risk of thrombosis and embolism. Specific risks of the procedure can include widened scarring, dimpling and rippling as well as an asymmetrical surgical result. You will learn all about your individual risks during your consultation.

What scars can be expected?

After the operation, either a horizontal scar remains between the groin and the buttock crease (horizontal thigh lift) or, in the case of a vertical thigh lift, an additional longitudinal scar on the inside of the thigh towards the knee joint.

Fine suturing techniques and consistent aftercare help to ensure that these scars appear as inconspicuous as possible.

Where is the incision made during a thigh lift?

The exact incision for a thigh lift depends on the type of operation. A short incision is sufficient for smaller findings. The shorter incision can be used to reposition sagging tissue.

For more extensive findings, a longer incision on the inside of the thigh is necessary in addition to the upper short incision so that excess skin can be removed. The resulting scar fades over the weeks of healing so that it is no longer visually noticeable after a while.

What should I look out for after the operation?

In the first few days, it is usually necessary to take painkillers.

You can get out of bed on the first day after the operation. The duration of the inpatient stay is approximately one to two days. After about 14 days, you will usually be able to socialise again. Compression trousers must be worn for six weeks to ensure optimal healing. Sport should be avoided for six to eight weeks.

Is it possible to finance the costs of my thigh lift?

Yes - Financing the costs of your thigh lift is possible via our partner if you have the appropriate credit rating.
